ASK Adds Ticking Clock

ASK added a ticking clock with local time to all local search results. It’s been a while since I last used ASK for local search and it appears as if they added weather, clock, pictures and all kinds of useful stuff…

Yahoo Tames Slurp and Updates Index

Yahoo is rolling out these days fresh updates to its “crawl, index and ranking systems.” You should be able to see a significant reduction Slurp’s crawling intensity as it should now be more efficient and less aggressive.
According to Yahoo Search Blog:
In response to feedback from the community, we’re reducing our crawling machines by a significant […]

Google Video to Issue Full Refunds

“When your friends and well-intentioned acquaintances tell you that you’ve made a mistake, it’s good to listen,” those are the words posted by Bindu Reddy, Google’s video product manager, on the company’s official blog.
By saying that, Reddy probably means the wide criticism pointed towards Google for their handling of paid customers on Google Video. […]

Yahoo Audio Adds Free Samples

Back in the day, I spent about a year working as an ice-cream man in Las Vegas. The most popular question I remember getting from people (mainly kids) around was if I had any free samples and don’t we all love them?

This week it announced that as a part of its relationships with Sun Microsystems it will start offering Sun’s Open-Office as part of its “Google Pack” which already includes Firefox […]

New Google Hire Renews Browser Rumors

A couple of years ago and following the registration of the domain GBROWSER.com by Google, many have speculated that Google was set for developing its own browser. Since then Google increased its support in Firefox and the rumors disappeared.

Yahoo Adds Baseball Shortcuts

As baseball season is heating up, Yahoo decided to make the life of the stat-buffs among us a tid-bit easier with their new Baseball Shortcuts. The original post calls this feature “Sports Shortcuts” but I could not locate any other sport besides baseball which triggered these shortcuts.
Here’s what you get when searching for Barry Bonds:

Major Criticism for Google’s Video Shut-Down

Yesterday I posted about Google’s announcement of shutting down of its Google Video rental platform. I guess the point that users are left SOL with $5 credit has been seen as a major insult to many. The official cancellation email reads:
Hello,
As a valued Google user, we’re contacting you with some […]
