America Online has launched AIM Mail, its first venture into free Web-based e-mail that places it in direct competition of Microsoft’s Hotmail, Yahoo Mail, and Google’s Gmail.
AIM Mail, which is available to any AIM user, is being delivered as part of the new v. 5.9 of AOL’s AIM client.
The new service comes out fighting, with 2GB of free storage, 8x more than Hotmail, and similar to Googles Gmail.
