Blogging And Pinging

by Noel on May 31st, 2008

Ping!

Yep. That was a ping. And when you ping, you actually are telling the spiders that you have just updated.

So okay. Keep this in mind: when you have your own blog, experts are suggesting that it would be best if you would be blogging on a regular basis. See, the more new content you put in, the more spiders would recognize your site because spiders search through new content first.

Despite spiders crawling through new content first, it would be far better if you helped tell spiders about the new content on your blog. How do you do this? Well, you can use pinging software that are available online. You would only be asked to put in your blog’s name, and the URL. Then the software would then be responsible for telling the search engines of the new post. Easy, right?

By doing such, you would be assured that spiders would be crawling through your blog on a regular basis as well. Now that’s going to help your ranking.

Just an FYI for those out there who aren’t sure what to look for, check out Ping-o-matic and BlogExplosion’s Ping My Blog for two resources that I’ve used to get the word out.
