Did you know that you could actually also use the images in your site to help boost your site’s rankings? Not all people do know about this one. They think that content is the main important part when optimizing a web site. But that is not true. Each image that you use in your site could also be used to your site’s advantage.

Now I must have gotten your attention already. So you’re asking me now just how to go about with that. Well, it is fairly simple. With a little tweaking on the HTML, you could go a long way.

First off, before you upload your image, make sure that it is properly named. You can put in the relevant keywords as the name of the image. Then you could upload it. Those sites which host images take the name of the image and use it as part of the permalink of the image.

Then, when you are using the image already on the site, make sure that you describe it with tags. How do you go about that? Just add alt=”description” in the code for your image. Well, here is an example:

<img src=”http://www.searchengineherald.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/scraper-sites.JPG” alt=”scraper site sample”>

When doing search engine optimization on your site, it is important that you also do take into account the content. Well, what would a site be without content? Do you think visitors and guests to your site would love going back if there was no content? I honestly think that I would not be going back to a site without worthwhile content.

Now, that’s the thing that we have to consider. A site’s content is important. It is actually very important that most people in the SEO industry say that content is king. It is what brings people to return to the site. Fresh and worthwhile content keeps readers and visitors hooked.

On the other hand, if the content that you put on your site is just all about adding keywords that are relevant to your site, that would not be helping your site that much. As experts say, what you should put in your site is fresh, relevant, and quality content. It is not the quantity that matters. It is always quality that keeps the visitors coming in.

There are some industries though that you would need to have a background on to be able to learn more about its secrets. Just like SEO. You would never understand the whole deal unless you have been part of it.

And so this coming October 3rd, if you would like to learn more secrets, you can head out and be part of the SEO Seminar that the Monkey Design House is having at Birmingham NEC. This seminar would be having Marc P. Summers, an expert, and he would be sharing some of his top SEO tips.

Attending has been quite an enriching experience for some. Take Julie Leader who is from FunPartySupplies. She attended one of these seminars and now, she claims, “Since applying the methods that Monkey Design House showed us, our business has quadrupled within 4 weeks!”

For businesses who would want more people coming in and knowing about them, experts are suggesting that search engine optimization is the best way to go. See, if you do know how to optimize your site, you would be able to advertise your site without having to spend that much. All you need is some background on how to go about with SEO, a computer, and a good internet connection.

Now, if you would be advertising your site the old fashioned way – print, broadcast, and online – you would be shelling out quite a sum of money. The good thing about SEO is that you would be able to bring in more customers through the technique known as SEO. The disadvantage though of SEO is that it would mean having to spend much time on your computer. But the effects are great. This would be really a great thing to apply to your site if you have a small business going on.

What do you think about this one?

Yes. And I mean, you should be building your web site with SEO already in mind. In a news story from Direct News, it has been discussed that you would be able to be successful when you already put in SEO aspects as you go on building what you want your website to be.

Julie Batten, an expert on the subject, has also claimed that if you do such, the effects would be greatly maximized. Now that is something that most sites do not actually have. You would be having a greater advantage because of that. See, come to think of it, it would be like difficult to add in your SEO techniques if the site is already built. It would be like putting up a structure and you would want some designs changed. If you want the structure to be done well, you put in your design ideas right when it is still under construction.

Makes sense, right?

Well, here is the rest of the list.

Static URL’s: Remember that all of your important pages should have short and static URLs and dynamic pages may follow those static pages. If unwanted lengthy URLs exist at your site then replace them with short.

Footer: Don’t forget to place links for all important pages at the footer part of your index page. This allows your visitors to jump at important pages with just a single click.

Robot.txt: Ensure that robot.txt is necessary at your website with apposite crawler notifications.

XML Site Map: Nowadays an xml feed acts as a site map which includes all pages of your site and is really indispensable from crawler point of view and should be confined as a link at the index page or at the common footer portion.

Canonical Issue: Nowadays optimization for Google is vastly required because maximum customers come at your site through it. Thus canonical issue should be solved first if exist.

Common Header and Footer: a common header text and footer text within H2 tag should be placed at each of your web pages.

Avoid Black Hat techniques: Achieving organic ranking and holding it for long time depends absolutely on white hat techniques and we should simply avoid all black hat strategies.

Any more tips that you may want to share about on-page optimization?

Now, here are some tips that I have found over at Promotion World. I’ll be sharing the first 8 today and then the rest tomorrow.

Meta Descriptions: Sketch your proper business announcement with simple words for catching concentration of the visitors who are searching similar kind of product or service which your website is going to deliver them. Possibly you can punch your keyword into that description but in a tricky way.

Crawler Notification: All kind of search engine crawler notifications like SE robots instructions, website owner and publisher declaration, website language, copywriter name etc. should go from the Meta portion of all your web page.

Image Optimization: Crawlers are unable to read images and the flash part of your web page but these images or flash is required to influence the visitors. Thus Optimize this images with suitable contents using Alt tags which reflects your proper business.

If you think there is some kind of magic for SEO gurus to be able to make your site rise to the top of the rankings, then you are most certainly wrong. Google’s own search quality evaluator, Ambroise Fensterbank, said that SEO could not be done overnight. It is “a gradual process and there is no ‘magic formula’ for success”, noted Business Feet.

Fensterbank was also further noted to have discussed, “For these reasons, and because the techniques might violate our guidelines, we recommend avoiding any techniques that claim to optimise your ranking very quickly or radically.”

Now, if you are thinking that you should be doing some techniques that you think would make your site rise at the top of the rankings in the shortest time possible, you should probably think again. See, Google’s experts are saying that if you do such, you would be going against the guidelines that the search engine champion has set. And when Google finds out, your site could be ‘punished’ and you know what that would mean.

It is interesting to note that there are some truths to what the Web Professor is saying and there are some that are quite debatable. Anyhow, it’s his list and those are his opinions.

Google is not as smart as it seems.

Just because a search engineer is nice, smart, witty and reasonably honest doesn’t mean he isn’t your adversary.

Forums are good for getting clients. Help people out when you can for free and you’ll see what I mean.

I’d rather spend time promoting my stuff than a clients. If I fail its my problem and at least I didn’t have to listen to my client

SEO is not a panacea for not having a product of your own.

Go to a conference its so much better discussing this stuff in person and honestly its more fun.

Forums are the suxors but you need to pick at least one to keep abreast of issues you may have missed.

Just because someone can argue well online doesn’t mean they know jack shit.

If you don’t have your own data to draw your own conclusions then you don’t know anything despite how much you read.

Don’t spend to much time arguing online. Its pointless. Spend that time proving or disproving your ideas for yourself.

If you want to make money with affiliate programs and your just starting out keep making sites. Make them big and small and in between but keep making them till your fingers bleed. Once you have a hundred then go back and see what is the most successful and then spend time on those.

The thing that is in the shortest supply online is creativity.

Don’t be afraid to be wrong and listen to the counsel of those who are honest.

Always try to find the successful mans networks, once you do don’t be an ass and out them just look and learn and if you feel like it warn them how you did it.

I came across a really interesting post and after reading the whole thing, I decided that it was worth sharing with you guys. See, this post is about the 73 things about SEO which has been penned by the Web Professor.

I’m going to be sharing the list bit by bit and I would like to hear reactions about what you may think about the list.

Search Engine Optimization is fairly straight forward there are no secrets.

Search Engine Optimization is marred by the fact anyone can discuss online and seem like an expert.

Online Marketing is where its at, and that should encompass SEO

The best blackhat stuff is not detectable by the search engines or people.

If you can’t program or pay someone to program you will be stuck using the same tools as everyone else.

Statistics and math are where its at. There are no fast answers in this business.

So you really wanna learn more about SEO? You really wanna know just what you need to do to be able to successfully make your site rank for a certain keyword? Well, it seems like you are in luck.

A workshop would be held this 10th of July and it would be about how you would be able to optimize any website so that it has high rankings in search engines. This workshop would be done by John McCarthy, the director for SEO of WebMetro. This event would be happening at California’s Art Institute’s Invasion of Creativity in San Bernardino.

McCarthy says, “WebMetro is delighted to help educational efforts for professionals looking to strengthen and grow their business through Internet marketing. Search engine optimization is a powerful Internet marketing tool for gaining new customer acquisition and increasing visibility.”

Now this looks quite something good for all those who would like to learn about SEO.

With the help of search engine optimization, two brothers are currently receiving much income. These brothers, Richard and David Griffiths, had set up an online business at www.b2bquote.co.uk. Right now, the two had claimed that each week, they have quite a number of new customers signing up with their site. They are looking at the high position that their site has in search engines.

Their site is a portal which allows anybody from the public or the private sector to put in details of any contract which still needs the help of other companies. This allows companies to choose companies to deal with.

Richard Griffiths said, “The key element was to attempt to get anyone using search engines to look for suppliers of goods or services to be directed to our site. Not many people will type in ‘business to business web portal’ or ‘where to find how to pitch for new business’ necessarily. Their searches will be much more specific than that.”

Just imagine this kind of situation: You have been working so hard on your SEO techniques so that your site would go ranking high up each time a user does some searching. But that is the only thing that you have been focusing on. As for your site, you have decided that you put in just any kind of content as long as it would help your SEO.

But did you know that an article on content and SEO has stated that bad content would actually help your site start its downward descent in the rankings? The article continued to disclose that SEO expert Neeraj Srivastava had suggested that it would best help your site if the content you would be using would be unique and far more interesting than your competitors’.

This surely has got to be true. Personally, if I do find a site that ranks much but with poor content, I’d go for other sites which may not rank that high but has really interesting reads.
