Google Gets the Oxford Stamp

According to OED’s Latest New Entries, Google is now an official verb, joining a respectful crew such as Xerox, Fedex and TiVo. The official definition is:

intr. To use the Google search engine to find information on the Internet.
trans. To search for information about (a person or thing) using the Google search engine.

InsideGoogle calls Microsoft to challenge it:

While some companies don’t mind, many hate the idea of one of their brands becoming a word. It is very hard to hold onto a brand, from a legal standpoint, if it enters the public consciousness. I recommend Microsoft put this to the test immediately, let the courts decide if Google still owns their own name:
