Google Gives in to Political Pressure

by Gilad on April 2nd, 2007

Last Friday, in an open letter to Google’s CEO Eric Schmidt, Brad Miller, D-N.C., chairman of the House Committee on Science and Technology’s Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight, accused Google of “airbrushing history” by showing pre-hurricane imagery of New Orleans in it’s mapping service, Google Earth.

In his letter, Miller wrote, “Google’s use of old imagery appears to be doing the victims of Hurricane Katrina a great injustice by airbrushing history.” This “outing” caused quite a bit of fuss against Google in the press and Google’s reaction came almost instantly, expediting a planned update to Google Earth, and even posting an official statement on their blog.

Doesn’t Brad Miller have something more important to do in D.C. than sit around gazing at Google pictures while he’s being paid by American taxpayers? Maybe if more of these phonies in D.C. actually did their jobs our country would be a better place! I’m certain that Capitol Hill would operate just as well if we voted all of these goldbricks out of office- who knows, maybe after 4 yrs. of running on autopilot the public would realize we don’t need all these Congressional Clowns in D.C. after all!
