Google Launches Free WiFi for it’s Hometown

by Gilad on August 17th, 2006

Earlier than planned, Google announced yesterday that it’s free WiFi project at it’s hometown of Mountain View, CA was lounched yesterday. The service is offered ad-free ad an approximate speed of 1MB up and down, and is available on the entire 12-square-miles of the town’s area.

I honestly believe that this is a great service and can give one an idea of what the future brings us, however, with the recent AOL problems with tracking personal data, Google’s storing of all GTalk conversation and all information these companies already know about us from our search habits, is it right for one to use an Internet service owned by such giants? after all these ISP’s know EVERYTHING about your surfing habits.
