Google to Spread Satellite Reach w. DirectTV

by Gilad on April 11th, 2007

Exactly a week after its deal with Echostar for delivering ads to their clients, rumors are that Google may have signed another deal with just another satellite provider, DirectTV.

The initial report from VentureBeat claims that the hold in signing this deal is only due to management restructuring at DirectTV, but otherwise the agreement is set.

“The DirecTV deal is taking more time than Dish’s to close because DirecTV is managing the ownership change announced…last year,” according to the blog. “The deal with Google will go through eventually, says a source who wants to remain anonymous.”

While the idea of an automated platform for TV ads sounds good to some, I think that it will not take off, simply due to the fact that these TV ads are of a totally different nature than the traditional online ones.
