GPhone Rumors, Rumors and Some More Rumors

The blogosphere, news-sphere and even digg-sphere have all been shaking this morning with then ew gphone (Google cell-phone) rumors coming to us from India. Rumor has it that gPhone is set to launch in 2 weeks and that Google already has all its ducks lined up. PCWORLD adds that “Google is in talks with several Indian developers to create a mobile platform supporting instant messaging, search functions, and data and content delivery.

On the contrary, Russell Shaw, seems to think differently, and Google may not even be working on such product. According to Shaw, Google has been very anal about sesuring its brands and products with tight trademarks but never bothered to register gPhone which is currently registered to Micro-g LaCoste, Inc., a company in Lafayette, Colorado, who applied back on March 5. According to the firm, gPhone represents An accelerometer employed as a gravity meter for use in full bandwidth monitoring of ground motion related to earthquakes, volcanology, tectonic movements, aquifers, hydrocarbon and groundwater reservoirs, glacial rebound, glacier studies, earth tides, long period seismicity, and for geologic mapping and other geoscientific applications. So… No gPhone in this description…
