More Concerns Raised on the Google - DoubleClick Deal
BEUC, a European consumer rights group, is just another body in the long line of companies objecting to Google’s acquisition of DoubleClick. The group outlined ad selection as well as privacy issues as their main concerns with the deal.
Jim Murray, director of BEUC, wrote in a warning to the EU commission “may have a negative impact on the selection of online content available to consumers and on privacy,” and added, “Through its acquisition of DoubleClick, Google could monopolise the online advertising business, thereby restricting competition and raising privacy concerns over control of data.”
As the opponents of this acquisition are growing bigger and stronger, there are more and more voices thinking that the deal will likely be scrutinized.
