SEO Basics - How to use Google’s site: Command

by Noel on February 10th, 2008

This is a must for all SEOs to know. I use this command all the time both for searching my sites and for searching and analysing competitor websites.

The basic step is to simply type in “site:<yourdomain.com>” into Google’s search textbox. What this does is it will show all pages of my site which were in Google’s indexes. Doing a “site:<yourdomain.com> <keyword> ” would search for that keyword in your site. Google will return a list of your web pages ranked according to relevance to the keyword you specified.

Here’s a video on how to use the “site:” command
