Things to Consider When Optimizing for Google
Last week, during almost every session in Pubcon the notion of natural linking patterns was mentioned or discussed. The idea is that Google can identify un-natural linking patterns even when one thinks he’s smart with it. Amount of links, period of time and anchor text can very much affect one’s short-term rankings and get one panelized.
A great example, and mini case-study is presented in this post where the author’s ex-client got panelized for participating in a large reciprocal linking network, gained many links within a month and eventually got dropped.
