Yahoo! And McAfee: Partners

by Noel on May 7th, 2008

Search engines are powerful. They could lead a user to go to various websites depending on the search term that they are using. However, there are times when the results are not safe. That is why Yahoo! is following Google in terms of making search engine use safer than better. For Yahoo!, they have gotten in a partnership with McAfee. McAfee would be allowing Yahoo! to use their SiteAdvisor which is a technology that is able to check security issues on web sites.

According to McAfee, this technology of theirs would be able to check if the site has adware, spam, spyware, malware, and also phishing. Users would be able to determine if they would be able to continue checking out the site or if they would rather go to another site instead.

In a report, Vish Makhijani, the general manager and senior vice president of Yahoo! Search, mentioned, “We are taking steps to make you feel safe when searching the Web - warning you about dangerous sites before you click on them.”
