Yahoo Loses Top Spot

by Gilad on December 18th, 2006

If nothing else, Yahoo held the award as the most visited site on the Internet for as long as I can remember. This is no longer true as comScore reports this morning that Myspace had passed Yahoo for the first time with 39.5 billion pages viewed in November compared to 38.1 billion of Yahoo. Third came Microsoft with 17.9 billion in November.

To their defense Yahoo claimed that their use of Web2.0 techniques such as Ajax are to blame, and that while the amount of page views may be skewed and unreliable, the still top the list with amount of unique visitors, ads served and total amount of hours spent on the site.
