Yahoo ‘Quick Links’ Unveils
Yahoo! is introducing this week a couple of new search features, features which aim at make search easier and more ‘user-friendly’.
The first feature is call ‘Quick Links’. This feature provides links to related maps, company’s address, catalog, certain products offered, etc. For example, when searching for ‘Target‘ the links provided include ‘Store Locator - Gift Registries - Coupons’.
According to the Y! Search Blog:
Quick Links “tries to guess the most-used information about that page and promotes it into the summaries for search results,”
Another feature is called ‘Shortcuts’. This feature provides additional information found through Yahoo’s affiliates or just by indexing pages. It may include links to addresses, reviewes, maps and more. For example, searching for ‘Chez Papa‘ returned an address, phone number, link to reviewes and maps as well as ’send to phone’.
Some interesting stuff there from Yahoo. Now, it is going to be a new challenge to find Yahoo’s sources of this information in order to be able to have it included under one’s site.
