Yahoo’s Buzzbox, a Good Source for Search Market Trends

by Gilad on July 27th, 2006

These days, search engines show the fastest market trends and buildups. What once used to take months and a thorough market analisys can be seen over one day of search terms.

As a web marketer and publisher, I find it interesting how fast people react to news and changes, and a quick idea of what the market into can make a big different when publishing unique content.

I recently started using Yahoo’s Buzzlog as a source for topics and found it very interesting. Today for example they published a post about the different searched for casts of popular tv shows. Before viewing the post I thought that current shows should rank higher, and was surprised to see that a popular show such as Laguna Beach, and Lost are over-searched by Family Matters and Full House.

In reviewing such results one may change his target crowd and offerings whether it is content, merchandise or even dvd’s and concentrate on what’s “trendy”. Another idea for using such knowledge is with news items which usually tend to fade away after a certain period of time, you can create a site themed after the news item and then push traffic to it via the different ppc engines.
